7th December 2009 - TISCALI WREAKS HAVOC!!! OFFICIAL.

Due to that most fine of ISPs, Tiscali, deleting a sub-account of mine which held most of the DFDA website files, I find I'm having to implement a temporary PLAN-B, hence the very much reduced webpage content. Please bare with us on this one. The STOCKSUMMARY page is still viewable, at least, although many of the embedded thumbnails won't come up, just yet.

Hopefully some resemblance of order can be restored in the coming weeks but Christmas is not the best tine of year to find more than a few spare hours. Here's to 2010!

NOTICEBOARD : Sun.6th December 2009
  • STOCK SUMMARY : The stock summary page has been updated, as well as extended notes for 2009, put in further down that page.

Here is a quick look-up, but this and more is on the STOCK SUMMARY page

  • 08238 : A.K.A. 13308 'Charlie', had the power unit/geny lump lifted back in on 3/11/09. Rest of Nov. taken up with reconnecting all the pipes, cables etc.. Weak batteries prevented a full restart and testing, but new ones are 'pending'. Loco is now in a new livery, yet to be officially announced.
  • 27066 : TM3 isolated after flash-over of 29th April. Will require bogie lift for full repairs. Featured in October diesel day on 24/10. OPERATIONAL
  • 31466 : some minor corrective repair work has been undertaken this summer, typically on the AWS, cab windows and engineroom lighting. OPERATIONAL
  • E6001 : a radiator fan switch earth fault prevented the loco working on the July and August diesel running days. 31466 worked on both days. OPERATIONAL
  • 73006 : back at the Severn Valley, took part in their October diesel event. OPERATIONAL
  • 73101 : Took part in filming at Avon Valley Rly. on 31/7 for an episode of BBC TV's 'Casualty'. Not yet fully in service due to a number of faults in need of attention, inc. poor batteries. NON-OPERATIONAL.

  • Welcome to the Official D.F.D.A. Website!

On these pages there's more than a few snipets of information on the D.F.D.A. and, hopefully, appreciate something of the relationship we've developed with the Friendly Branchline railway in the Royal Forest of Dean, with our modest and experienced Group. The menu options to the left provide details on matters such as:-

    • Group history
    • The Dean Forest Railway
    • Stock summary
    • Operating Days for DFDA diesels
    • Useful links
    • Website changes summary
    • Contact address and email (limited correspondence)
